DECISION GUIDE

Opportunity Conversion and Return on Engagement ↗

Real Situations. Real Decisions. Practical Strategy.

Cedric Burl & Company believes strategy is easier to understand when people can see how it works in practice.

This section is designed to show how we think through business challenges, growth opportunities, capital decisions, technology questions, real estate situations, strategic partnerships, exit planning, institutional initiatives, and other complex matters.

Some articles will be based on actual engagements. Others will use anonymized, composite, or hypothetical examples to demonstrate the decision-making process without disclosing confidential information.

Our objective is not simply to tell you what we do.

It is to show you how we think.

Strategy in Practice

Many clients begin with a specific request.

“We need funding.”

“We need more customers.”

“We need an AI solution.”

“We want to sell the business.”

“We are looking at a property.”

“We need a strategic partner.”

“We have a complicated matter and do not know where to begin.”

The first request is important, but it is not always the real issue.

Our case studies and strategy examples show how Cedric Burl & Company applies the AGI Method™ to understand the situation before recommending a solution.

What You Will Find Here

Case Studies

Real engagements, when appropriate and permitted, showing the situation, assessment, strategic decisions, implementation approach, and lessons that may be useful to others.

Anonymous Case Studies

Actual situations with identifying information removed or adjusted to protect confidentiality.

Composite Examples
Examples built from recurring patterns we have encountered across multiple situations. Composite examples are clearly identified and are not presented as one specific client engagement.

Hypothetical Strategy Examples
Illustrative scenarios designed to show how Cedric Burl & Company might approach a particular business, capital, technology, real estate, institutional, or strategic problem.

Decision Guides
Practical articles addressing questions business owners and organizational leaders frequently face before committing money, signing agreements, hiring vendors, pursuing funding, implementing technology, entering partnerships, or making major strategic decisions.

Opportunity Intelligence

Analysis focused on how opportunities should be researched, tested, compared, and prioritized before significant resources are committed.
The Opportunity Number
In selected case studies and strategy examples, we may also identify an Opportunity Number — an estimated dollar value or range representing the scale of potentially relevant opportunity surrounding a business, project, asset, or initiative.
For example, an assessment may indicate that approximately $2 million to $3 million in potential opportunity exists around a project when relevant public, private, institutional, capital, incentive, workforce, redevelopment, procurement, partnership, and other channels are considered together.
The Opportunity Number is not a promise that the client will receive that amount. It is a strategic measurement of the opportunity environment. The next step is determining which opportunities are actually qualified, which deserve priority, and which should not be pursued.
Public examples may show the Opportunity Number without disclosing the underlying source-by-source opportunity map. The purpose is to show the scale of what may exist around the situation and how disciplined assessment turns a large opportunity universe into a practical strategy.

The AGI Method in Practice

Our examples generally follow the same strategic framework.

Assessment

What is actually happening?

What information is available?

What is missing?

What are the risks?

What resources already exist?

Growth Strategy

What opportunities deserve attention?

What should happen first?

What alternatives exist?

What professional resources may be required?

Implementation

What needs to happen next?
Who needs to be involved?

What should be tracked?

How does the strategy move from recommendation to action?

What Did This Type of Work Cost?

Where appropriate, our examples may also discuss the professional investment associated with the type of work being described.

That may include a Strategy & Opportunity Mapping Session, an Initial Assessment, a defined project engagement, or ongoing strategic advisory.

Published pricing examples are intended to help prospective clients understand the level of work involved.

They are not universal quotes.

Actual fees depend on scope, complexity, documentation, number of entities or assets, research requirements, urgency, deliverables, and implementation responsibilities.

Third-party professional costs are separate unless specifically stated.

Sometimes the Best Decision Is Not to Proceed

Not every case study will end with a transaction, funding approval, technology purchase, partnership, or expansion.

Sometimes assessment reveals that the organization should prepare first.

Sometimes additional information is required.

Sometimes the risk is too high.

Sometimes the economics do not make sense.

Sometimes the opportunity simply does not fit the client's objectives.

Those decisions are also part of strategy.

A useful advisor should be willing to recommend not proceeding when the facts support that conclusion.

How We Label Our Examples

We want readers to understand what they are reading.

Named Case Study — An actual engagement published with appropriate client permission.

Anonymous Case Study — An actual engagement with identifying information removed or modified.

Composite Example — A clearly identified example combining recurring patterns from more than one situation.

Hypothetical Example — An illustrative scenario created to demonstrate how our process may work.

Decision Guide — Educational guidance addressing a common strategic question.

Opportunity Intelligence — Analysis of an opportunity, model, resource, or decision framework.

Client confidentiality comes before content creation.
